SANTA TERESA CABLE CAR
EMOTION WHEN GOING OVER LAPA ARCHES
BONDINHO DE SANTA TERESA The Santa Teresa cable car, once a symbol of progress and efficiency, is now like taking a trip back in time.
But much more than just a sightseeing tour, it is an important means of transport for the neighborhood’s residents. It leaves from the center and goes up the hill through the Lapa Arches. It is possible to catch it both at its starting point, on Lélio Gama street (near the Carioca subway station, in a small street located behind the Petrobras building), and along its route, at the stops already in Santa Teresa, just signaling that the driver allows boarding. Departures from the starting point take place at average intervals of 15 to 20 minutes. The cost of the ride is R$20, which is paid on the outward journey and the return journey is included. The cable car runs from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm, and on Sundays and public holidays from 11am to 4.30pm.
